This Asymmetrical Brimmed Felt Hat in an Ombre of Navy Brown isn't one that Audrey Hepburn wore in My Fair Lady. Yet, you will feel like the belle of the ball wearing it. It has a wonderfully elegant brim and makes a remarkable statement. Plus, as it has Bergshaf wool, it will keep you warm!
INSPIRATION:
The very elegant KimtheMuse of Instagram inspired this hat. She wears AMAZING vintage-inspired, wide-brimmed hats and outfits created by bespoke tailor and couture designer Thomas von Nordheim. I wanted to see if I could make a similarly shaped hat without using a wooden hat block.
COLOUR:
• The colours of this hat are hard to capture. The very tip of the hat is an unusual violet-y navy blue. This then develops into a warm purplish-brown towards the brim. On the side where there is the bow, there are apricot tones. Underneath the brim is the same warm apricot tone that transforms the brown to lavender.
SHAPE:
• This statement hat has a wide brim and a circular ring on its tip, which is topstitched. Along the brim, there is a row of machine topstitching. There is a stylized bow made from handcrafted felt pieces.
• Inside the hat are a hand-sewn black-coloured grosgrain ribbon, a FeltHappiness label, and a care tag.
SIZE:
• The hat measures 10" / 25.5 cm in height, 12.5" / 32 cm in width, and 12.5" / 31 cm in depth. The crown is 6" / 15 cm. The width of the brim varies and is narrower in the back of the hat.
• It is a thick-weight hat: 7.8 ounces / 223 grams.
• HEADSIZE - It's a SMALL to MEDIUM-sized hat and fits a range of 22" / 56 cm to 22.5" / 57 cm. If a larger size is needed, please let me know. I can stretch this hat to suit.

Of course, you can wear your hat in the rain. After all, felt is made with soap and water, yet naturally resists water. However, if your hat gets drenched, please air dry it by sitting over a wine bottle, so that the brim can retain its shape.

Each FeltHappiness Hat is entirely handmade and created from soft Merino wool fibers using the technique of wet felting. It's an ancient and simple craft that takes patience and lots of kneading to shrink the fibers into a strong, flexible, and warm felt. To learn more, see HERE.
In addition to insulating, wool naturally resists water. Hence, your felted hat will keep you warm in chilly weather and dry in light rain. Plus, wool resists mildew, dirt, and fire!

Measuring Your Head
Every head has its own unique size and shape, which can be measured with a flexible tape measure or even a piece of string.
Take the tape measure and encircle your head, just above the top of your ears. Make sure that the tape measure goes over that small bump at the back of your head. Please don't pull it tightly. Leave a little 'ease' so that one finger can fit under the tape. An ear-to-ear measure can be helpful too.
Measure three times: it is surprising how it can vary!
