Each hand felted hat is one-of-a-kind, just like YOU!
Wearing a FeltHappiness hat is easy and FUN!
I’m Juliane Gorman and I first felted long ago as a student at the Rhode Island School of Design. An extracurricular affair, felting was a one-off, involving dance and snow. So different from the structured weaving that drew me to textiles, but soon proved too confining. Exploring other fiber arts, I made a series of mixed media, headdress-sculptures for my senior project. Afterward, I took millinery classes at the Fashion Institute of Technology (NY) and did some freelancing in costume shops.
However, the enchantment of creating went into dormancy while I pursued other day-jobs and parenthood.
Serendipitously, in 2011, I saw a felted bracelet at a craft fair. This led to finding a library book on wet felting hats. It was my eureka moment: a craft which combines my love of colorful fiber, with my passion for hats.
Now, energized by the natural world, fairy tales and fine art, I create wearable art hats that are useful, comfortable and flattering. The magic of fiber and the process of creating hats have brought me Huge Joy.
Best of all, my FeltHappiness Hats will energize YOU, and help you better enjoy your Winter, Spring or Fall. Life need not be gray.

Where am I located?
All of my handcrafted, felted hats are made in my small home studio in Gibsonia, Pennsylvania, USA, where I’ve lived since 2014. Previously, I lived in picturesque Norwich, England for eleven years. Hence, some of my felted hats were made in the UK.
Worldwide shipping is available, with hats in private collections in Australia, Canada, France, Hong Kong, Italy, The Netherlands, UK, and USA.
Additionally, photographs of my hats are included in several publications: “Worldwide Colours of Felt,” “Felt Matters,” and the catalog of “Wearable Expressions 7th Annual Juried Exhibition.”
