Happy Dance Time

Excitingly, an article about my journey in hatmaking through felt has been included in the International Feltmakers Association's journal, Felt Matters. The magazine is quarterly, and this one, issue 156, is devoted to the theme of 'Heads'.

When the IFA first contacted me, I questioned the correctness of my felted hats being amongst what imagined to be figurative 'heads'. However, I am super-pleased and deeply grateful to the IFA for including me in this issue. I shared a quick video of the news over on Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/p/C_vS-sxoEE1/

Look Inside

This issue has an extra inspiring collection of articles! Here is a photograph of the Table of Contents:

In addition to myself, there is an article about Rae Swon's dreamlike needlefelted headwear. (You can see her in the above photo - she is wearing a hat with snakes on it!) Rae is an artist I have been following since I first crossed her path on Etsy in 2011 or so— which is when I first learned about Etsy! I adore her tiny tableau landscapes—one is of British Spitfires vs. German tanks, and another is a pastoral scene with sheep...on a hat! Her recent work focuses on animals as wearables and is also very creative and wonderful! Amazingly, she does NOT use wool to create her work!

Another inspiring article is about the work of a new-to-me artist, Stefanie Ehrenfried. She creates monumental needle-felted heads, and one of her pieces is on the magazine's cover. (See above photo). To learn more about this artist, here is a link to her website: https://www.stefanie-ehrenfried.de/
