Medium-weight silk habotai scarf with Seaweed Imagery going across the width.
COLOUR:
• Blue and white
The seaweed used to print this scarf was scavenged from the edges of the beach at Sandy Cove in Dún Laoghaire. It was not picked from growing seaweed.
Seaweed type: Serrated Wrack = Fucus serratus
SHAPE:
• Rectangular with hand-rolled edges.
SIZE:
• When laid flat, the scarf measures approximately 14" / 35 cm wide by 72"/ 182.8 cm long.
• It's a MEDIUM-weight silk habotai scarf - 8 momme. Due to the fabric's thickness, there is a 'front' and a 'back' to this scarf. The front side has a stronger and darker blue-coloured Cyanotype print.
• Size - Fits most people.
This scarf is ready to ship.

Care of Cyanotype Wearables
Like the felted hats I create, Cyanotype Textiles require gentle treatment.
- If your item is washable, please hand-wash it in cold water with a mild, phosphate-free, pH-neutral detergent.
- Do not bleach or use harsh cleaners — they will fade the blue.
- Do not wring; instead, gently press out excess water.
- Air dry in the shade, away from direct sunlight.
- Store out of direct sunlight when not in use to preserve the colour.
Like living creatures, Cyanotypes need oxygen. If the blue appears dull after washing or storage, let the fabric breathe in open air, and the colour will revive naturally.

Each FeltHappiness Hat is entirely handmade and created from soft Merino wool fibers using the technique of wet felting. It's an ancient and simple craft that takes patience and lots of kneading to shrink the fibers into a strong, flexible, and warm felt. To learn more, see HERE.
In addition to insulating, wool naturally resists water. Hence, your felted hat will keep you warm in chilly weather and dry in light rain. Plus, wool resists mildew, dirt, and fire!

The seaweed that I use in my Cyanotype printing is never cut from living plants. I only take storm-tossed seaweed salvaged from the beach. I also reuse seaweed in my printing.
